Prior to my life as a Design student, I had tested out a variety of majors like communications, political science, and fashion merchandising. Through this journey of trial and error, I found that I am strongest in my creative expression and concept development specifically via fashion design. It took me a while to see exactly what it was that would satisfy my desire for a fulfilling and fun career, but as they say, you know when you know.
My life today is largely focused on my major. From concept creation, research, sketching, technical design, pattern drafting, fabric/trim sourcing, and clothing construction, my life revolves around my craft. I am devoted and working harder than ever before in design school, as I am committed to having a career that I love.
In the process, I have encountered incredible support from professors/mentors, met talented creatives, and developed my creative discipline. These are the takeaways that inspire me at the end of the day and keep me going in the midst of my rigorous schedule.
Reflecting on my experience as a Fashion Design student, I can honestly say that I am truly inspired by the people and environment around me each day at school. I am blessed to say that my work is fun, fulfilling, and challenging in the best ways.
